Starting out at 8:30 AM from St. Bees
Peter dips his foot in the Irish Sea, a tradition among Coast to Coast walkers. Then we both picked up a rock to carry to Robin Hood's Bay in the North Sea.
Approaching St. Bees head with its 200 million year old sandstone cliffs.
Black-headed sheep grazing in pastures above the Irish Sea

"Move over Momma's; walkers coming through your pasture"
Finished our walk in Cleator around 2 PM, about 8.5 miles in 5.5 hours. Not too bad, considering the terrain---- ups and downs, very narrow animal tracks, and a good bit of muck and mire. (Our gaiters definitely came in handy.)

What's for dinner? Where are you sleeping tonight?
ReplyDeleteWe ate local beef the first night and lamb the second. Lamb was better than the beef, not that the beef, just not interesting.

DeleteWondering how you know the route. Are you with others?
ReplyDeleteFollowing a book that details the route. Plus maps and the route is mostly well signed. Not walking with a group (although there are lots that do). Too noisy! I love the sounds and silence of nature.
DeleteAwesome Pictures! Have a great time and be safe! Make sure you keep those socks dry! I am sure the food is outstanding! That alone will keep you going! Ken
